ulrich medical presents product innovation for the US market in the South Hall, Level 3, booth #3965

Ulm, November 2019. The German medical technology manufacturer ulrich medical from Ulm will use this year’s RSNA congress taking place 1-5 December in Chicago to officially present for the first time the version of the CT motion specifically designed for the US market. The contrast media injector for computed tomography has obtained the much sought-after approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in accordance with its strict 510(k) approval procedure. Together with its cooperation partner GE Healthcare, ulrich medical will be marketing the injector to the world’s largest medical technology market in the future.

Although ulrich medical already supplies its contrast media injectors to over 60 countries, the USA, as the largest medical technological market, had been missing from the world map until now. Thus this market entry will play an important role in the consistent development of the company’s international position as an innovative medical technology manufacturer.

“For several years we have been growing very successfully with our American subsidiary in the Spinal Systems business division. The fact that we are now also entering the US market with the Contrast Media Injectors product division is a logical consequence of the increasing internationalization of our industry and should continue to help us achieve above-average growth in the sector” explains Klaus Kiesel, Chief Executive Officer of ulrich medical, about this important strategic step. Thus the expansion not only guarantees jobs, but also the production and development sites in Ulm. Kiesel goes on to explain that as one of the few medical technology manufacturers, ulrich medical will continue to focus consistently on “Made in Germany” quality.

The family company has been exhibiting its contrast media injectors for CT and MRI at the world’s largest radiology congress for more than 15 years. Many international distributors come to the RSNA specifically to find out about the products and services of the quality manufacturer from Germany, to discuss new projects and to take advantage of the opportunity to exchange knowledge with the on-site experts and technicians.

Networking for an efficient workflow
Another topic this year is the RIS/PACS interface* for the CT motion; a new product feature that ulrich medical already successfully launched at the end of May at this year’s German Radiology Congress in Leipzig. The RIS/PACS interface integrates the injector into the existing radiology IT systems RIS (Radiology Information System) and PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) in the most convenient and user-friendly way. This helps hospitals and medical practices to achieve simple, quick and comprehensive documentation of all relevant imaging and injection data.

Moreover, thanks to the contrast media being injected directly from the original containers, the contrast media injectors facilitate considerable workflow efficiencies. Clinic operators and medical-technical specialist staff benefit from both the cost savings and the optimized material consumption provided by the automated handling.

* The RIS/PACS interface product feature is not currently approved for the US market.
