Ulm,  January 11th, 2024. The medical technology company based in southern Germany has recently expanded its production facilities, for which it has invested 5 million euros.

The new production plant is equipped with state-of-the-art, networked manufacturing technology and is already producing at full speed. “This extensive expansion was only possible thanks to our profitable and sustainable growth,” says Chief Executive Officer Klaus Kiesel. The company is continuing to expand its site in Germany and is thus setting itself apart from part of the medical technology sector, which is reducing its investments in Germany according to the autumn survey* conducted by the German Medical Technology Association (BVMed). This applies to just under 30 percent of the medical technology companies surveyed and is justified by them with the increased regulatory conditions, among other things.

Above-average growth in turnover

According to BVMed, turnover in the medtech industry grew by an average of 4.8% in 2023*, while ulrich medical, including its subsidiaries, recorded an increase of 12% with a turnover of 150 million. The above-average development in this challenging economic environment is also reflected in the number of employees: there are now around 600 employees in total at the Ulm site and in the subsidiaries in France and the USA. From October 2022 to October 2023 alone, 23 new positions were created and filled at the Ulm site. “Our employees are the heart of our company and their passionate commitment and professional expertise form the basis of our success. We are very proud to develop and produce our medical products, which are used worldwide, in Germany,” says Christoph Ulrich, Managing Partner of ulrich medical. ulrich medical supports the further expansion of market shares through cooperation with globally active partners, such as GE Healthcare and, most recently, Bracco Imaging.
